Valerie's Greek Yogurt Fruit Salad recipe

Greek yogurt fruit salad is a refreshing and healthy dish that combines assorted fruits with creamy Greek yogurt. It’s often served as a light breakfast, dessert, or snack. The Greek yogurt adds a rich, tangy flavor and a boost of protein, while the fruits provide natural sweetness and nutrients.

Although this is a quick recipe using canned fruit cocktail, it can easily be made with fresh fruit also.

Tips for Making Greek Yogurt Fruit Salad

  1. Choose a Variety of Fresh Fruits: Use a colorful mix such as berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries), maraschino cherries, melons, grapes, kiwi, mango, or pineapple for vibrant flavor and texture.
  2. Use Thick Greek Yogurt: Opt for full-fat or plain Greek yogurt to add creaminess and tang without extra sweetness. You can sweeten it slightly if desired.
  3. Sweeten Naturally: If your fruits aren’t sweet enough, mix some honey or maple syrup with the yogurt. You can also add a little vanilla extract for extra flavor.
  4. Add Crunch and Texture: Incorporate nuts (like almonds, walnuts, pecans, or pistachios) or granola for crunch. Fresh mint leaves can also add a refreshing note.
  5. Combine Gently: Mix the fruits and yogurt carefully to prevent bruising the delicate fruits.
  6. Chill Before Serving: Let the salad sit in the refrigerator for at least 15 to 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and to serve it cold.
  7. Serve in Individual Portions: For presentation, serve in small bowls or glasses, garnished with nuts, granola or mint.
  8. Adjust to Taste: Feel free to customize with ingredients like shredded coconut, or chia seeds.
