Shrimp Cocktail
Shrimp cocktail is a classic appetizer consisting of cooked, chilled shrimp served with a tangy, flavorful dipping sauce, made from ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce and other seasonings. The shrimp are usually large, peeled, and deveined.

Ingredients
Shrimp
1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined, tails on)
1 teaspoon salt
Cocktail Sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Few dashes Tabasco sauce (optional)
Instructions
Shrimp
- Bring a pot of water to a boil with lemon halves and salt.
- Add shrimp, cook for 2 to 3 minutes (just until pink and opaque).
- Immediately transfer shrimp to an ice bath to stop cooking.
Cocktail Sauce
- Stir all sauce ingredients together.
- Taste and adjust horseradish or hot sauce to your liking.
- Place sauce in a serving dish.
- Arrange the shrimp on the rim of the serving dish.
- Serve ice cold with lemon wedges.
