Pumpkin Butter is versatile!

  1. Spread on Toast and Bagels: Spread pumpkin butter on your morning toast for a sweet and spiced flavor.
  2. Add to Pancakes and Waffles: Swirl pumpkin butter into pancake or waffle batter, or dollop on top as a topping.
  3. Fill Pastries and Scones: Use pumpkin butter as a filling for turnovers, scones or thumbprint cookies.
  4. Mix into Yogurt or Oatmeal: Stir a spoonful into yogurt or oatmeal for added flavor and sweetness.
  5. Use as a Dip: Serve pumpkin butter as a dip for apple slices, pretzels or Graham crackers.
  6. In Baking: Incorporate pumpkin butter into muffin, cake or bread recipes for moisture and flavor.
  7. Add to Cheese Boards: Pair pumpkin butter with cheeses, nuts and crackers for a tasty addition.

Ingredients

2 (15 ounce) cans pumpkin purée (not pie filling) or 30 ounces Homemade Pumpkin Purée 1 cup apple juice 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 3 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in the slow cooker, and set temperature to LOW. Allow to cook until thickened, approximately 8 to10 hours, stirring occasionally.
  2. Spoon pumpkin butter into jars and let cool completely in the refrigerator before using.

Notes

Pumpkin butter may be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week, or in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Brown sugar gives it a more in-depth flavor, but an equal amount of granulated sugar may be substituted.
