Peanut Butter Cookies

Making great peanut butter cookies involves a few key techniques and tips.

Tips for making the best Peanut Butter Cookies…

Choose the right peanut butter

Use natural peanut butter for a more authentic flavor, but if you prefer a creamier texture, commercial creamy peanut butter works well too. Avoid brands that have added sugars or oils for the best results.

Have the ingredients at room temperature

Let your butter and eggs reach room temperature before mixing. This ensures a smoother batter and better incorporation of ingredients.

Cream the butter and sugar well

Creaming together the butter and sugars (granulated and brown) until light and fluffy adds air to the mixture, which helps create a tender peanut butter cookie.Use brown sugar: Incorporating brown sugar adds richness and moisture due to its molasses content, resulting in chewier Peanut Butter Cookies.

Use brown sugar

Incorporating brown sugar adds richness and moisture due to its molasses content, resulting in chewier cookies.

Don’t over-mix the dough

Once you add the flour, mix just until combined. Overworking the dough can lead to tougher Peanut Butter Cookies

Chill the dough

Chilling the cookie dough for at least 30 minutes helps prevent spreading and can enhance the flavor of the cookies as the ingredients meld.

Use a cookie scoop

This ensures uniform cookie sizes, which helps Peanut Butter Cookies bake evenly.

Use two cookie sheets

You can be preparing the next batch for the oven while the current batch is baking. If you do not have two cookie sheets, let the cookie sheet cool down before adding more dough balls.

Fork pattern

Pressing the dough with a fork in a crisscross pattern not only gives traditional peanut butter cookies their recognizable look but also helps flatten them slightly for even baking.

Experiment with add-ins

Consider mixing in chocolate chips, crushed peanuts, or even a pinch of sea salt on top before baking the cookies for added texture and flavor

Watch the baking time

Peanut butter cookies can go from perfect to over-baked quickly. Bake until the edges are set and the centers look slightly under-baked, as they will continue to cook on the baking sheet.

Let them cool

Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. This helps them firm up and prevents breakage.

Storage tips

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, consider freezing them.

By following these tips, you can create delicious peanut butter cookies that are soft, chewy, and full of flavor!
