Peanut Blossoms

Peanut Blossoms

This is a wonderful recipe from my sister, Kathryn. The original recipe was invented by Freda Smith of Gibsonburg, Ohio for the 1957 Pillsbury Bake-Off.

Peanut Blossoms are classic Christmas cookies that combine the richness of peanut butter with the sweetness of a Hershey’s Kiss. These cookies typically consist of a peanut butter dough ball that is dropped onto a baking sheet, and then topped with a Hershey’s Kiss before baking. The chocolate melts slightly while baking, creating a delicious peanut butter and chocolate combination. Peanut Blossoms are a favorite holiday treat, and are perfect for dunking in a cold glass of milk or enjoying on their own as a sweet snack.

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

  2. Bake at 375 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes.
  3. Top each cookie immediately with a candy kiss. Press down firmly so cookie cracks around the edge.
