Syrup
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans or walnuts
Buns
- 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
- 1 envelope active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup softened butter
- 2/3 cup warm water
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (or walnuts)

Instructions
- Line a 12 x 8-inch baking pan with parchment; set aside.
Syrup
- To prepare pan, melt 1/4 cup butter in pan; add brown sugar and the 1/4 cup maple syrup. Heat, stirring, until sugar is dissolved. Pour into pan and sprinkle with 1 1/2 cups pecans or walnuts.
Buns
- In a mixing bowl, stir together 3/4 cup flour, yeast, granulated sugarand salt.
- Add butter and warm water. Beat for 2 minutes at medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally.
- Add eggs and 1/4 cup more flour; beat at high speed for 2 minutes. Stir in enough flour to make a soft dough.
- Turn out onto lightly floured board and knead 10 minutes or until dough is smooth and satiny.
- Roll dough to a 14 x 9 inch rectangle. Spread lightly with maple syrup and sprinkle with pecans or walnuts. Roll up into 9 inch roll. Pinch seam to seal. Cut into nine 1 inch slices and arrange, cut side up, in prepared pan. Cover lightly with plastic wrap. Let rise in warm place about 1 1/4 hours or until light.
- Bake at 375 degrees F for 20 or 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let stand in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out on large plate to cool.
