Lisa’s Mocha Mousse
Rich and creamy Lisa’s Mocha Mousse is perfect for coffee lovers. Lisa has been making this wonderful dessert for at least 30 years.
Ingredients for Lisa’s Mocha Mousse…
- Espresso or Brewed Coffee: Freshly brewed coffee or espresso works best for authentic mocha flavor.
- Heavy Cream: For the mousse texture, make sure to use heavy cream or whipping cream.
- Sugar: Adjust the sweetness of Mocha Mousse according to your taste preference, but keep in mind that chocolate can be quite bitter.
- Eggs: Many recipes use egg yolks for richness and a creamy texture, but you can also make a lighter version without them.
Tips for Preparing Lisa’s Mocha Mousse…
- Whip Cream to Soft Peaks: When whipping the cream, stop at soft peaks if you want a lighter mocha mousse. Whip to stiff peaks for a denser texture.
- Fold Gently: When combining the whipped cream with the beaten egg whites, fold gently to maintain airiness. Use a spatula to carefully incorporate without deflating the whipped cream.
- Add Coffee Flavor: Dissolve instant coffee granules in a small amount of hot water or use espresso for a stronger coffee taste. You can also infuse the cream with coffee flavor before whipping it.
- Cool the Mousse: Allow Lisa’s Mocha Mousse to chill in the fridge for at least 2-4 hours before serving to firm up and enhance the flavors.
- Garnish Creatively: Top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, or coffee beans for an appealing presentation.
Serving Suggestions…
- Serve in individual cups or bowls for a more elegant presentation.
- Pair with biscotti or dark chocolate cookies for added texture.
- Consider adding a splash of coffee liqueur for an adult twist.
Storing:
- Lisa’s Mocha mousse can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Cover it well to prevent it from absorbing odors from the refrigerator.
