Ingredients
2 pounds boneless beef short ribs
1 small red onion, diced
1 small can crushed pineapple (with juice)
1/3 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons honey
3 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon Chinese 5 Spice powder
Sesame seeds (optional)
Green onions, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Spray a slow cooker with cooking spray.
- Â Evenly distribute ribs inside slow cooker.
- Â In a small bowl, combine remaining ingredients and stir until evenly combined. Pour over ribs.
- Â Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours or on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours.
- To serve, garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, if desired.
- Delicious served with French fries cooked in tallow!
Notes
Optional Thickener
If you want a thicker sauce, remove the ribs once cooked. Transfer the cooking liquid to a saucepan. Mix cornstarch with a little water to make a slurry. Bring the sauce to a simmer and stir in the slurry until thickened. Return the ribs to the slow cooker or serve with the thickened sauce.
