This is a hearty and flavorful dish that combines tender green beans, savory chunks of ham, and soft potatoes, and seasoned with spices for added depth.

Green Beans, Ham and Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh green beans
  • 2 pounds ham, diced
  • 4 baking potatoes, diced, or 8 red potatoes, quartered
  • 1 large onion, diced (optional))
  • 3 cups water
  • Salt and pepper
  • Montreal steak seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. After removing the stems from the green beans, place them,, along with ham, potatoes and onion into the slow cooker.
  2. Add water and season with salt and pepper or Montreal steak seasoning.
  3. Cook on LOW for 6 hours.

Notes

This can also be made on the stovetop. Add ingredients to a Dutch oven as indicated above. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer slowly for about 1 1/2 hours. The potatoes and green beans should be very tender.

The red potatoes may be peeled or unpeeled.
