I got this wonderful recipe from a fellow juror when I served on the 40th Maricopa County, Arizona, Grand Jury back in the 1980’s.

Bars
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.*
- Cream shortening and sugar.
- Blend in eggs, molasses and coffee.
- Add remaining ingredients and blend well.
- Pour into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake or about 20 to 25 minutes. Check for doneness.
- Frost while warm.
Frosting
- Mix until smooth.
