Coffee Creamers

Homemade coffee creamers are coffee additives you can prepare at home. They offer a creamy texture and flavor without the preservatives or artificial ingredients often found in store-bought versions. Select from many flavors in this great recipe!

Coffee Creamers can be prepared in a blender or shaken in a one-quart Mason jar, stored in the refrigerator and used as a delicious, healthier alternative to commercial creamers.

For sweet Coffee Creamers the ingredients are a 1:1 ratio of sweetened condensed milk and Half-and-Half, cream or milk. You can easily make a smaller quantity by using this ratio; i.e. 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 cup Half-and-Half, cream or milk.

Tips for making and storing coffee creamers

For a nondairy version, use coconut sweetened condensed milk instead of regular SCM.

One 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk is equal to 1.4 cups, so it is a little less than 1 1/2 cups.

For nondairy, use almond milk or any other plant-based milk, such as oat milk, hemp milk, cashew milk, coconut milk or rice milk. Use full-fat nondairy when possible.

We prefer pure Mexican vanilla extract for all our cooking needs. It has superior flavor.

Pour the sweetened condensed milk into a glass measuring cup and microwave for 1 minute. It mixes with the other ingredients much easier. Or, warm the base and stir in flavorings over low heat. This helps everything dissolve and blend better. Cool completely before storing.

If you’re using ingredients like cocoa powder or thick syrups, a quick blend ensures a silky texture.

Experiment all you like. There are simply hundreds of variations.

Store in the back of the refrigerator on the bottom shelf as this is the coldest part of a refrigerator. Never store in the door of the refrigerator.

Natural creamers can separate—store in a Mason jar or bottle and shake it well before pouring.
