Cinnamon Snails

Cinnamon snails made from pie dough scraps are a delicious way to use leftover pie crust. Simply roll out the dough, spread with butter, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, roll it up, slice, and bake until golden.

Ingredients

Scale
1 refrigerated pie crust or leftover pie dough 4 tablespoons butter, softened 3 tablespoons granulated or light brown sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Roll out leftover pie dough into long a rectangle.
  3. Butter liberally on the side facing up until fully covered.
  4. Sprinkle the buttered dough generously with sugar and cinnamon until well coated.
  5. Starting at the longest edge of the pie dough, roll up. Slice into pinwheels about 3/4 inch wide.
  6. Place on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15 to 16 minutes, or until no longer raw.

Notes

Chocolate Filling

2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
