Ingredients

  • 2 cups macaroni, uncooked
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced (optional)
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 small cans diced tomatoes or 2 cans tomato soup
  • 1 (16-ounce) can kidney beans, drained
  • 4 ounces mozzarella or Cheddar cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Cook macaroni for about 7 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, brown meat, bell pepper (if using) and onion in a large saucepan; drain fat.
  3. Add garlic, chili powder, salt and pepper. Mix well and cook over low heat for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add cooked macaroni, tomatoes or tomato soup and kidney beans. Heat thoroughly.
  5. Just before serving, add the grated cheese. Cover and heat until cheese melts.
