Dressing/Stuffing

Dressing/Stuffing are terms often used interchangeably to describe a mixture typically made of bread, herbs, and various other ingredients, used to add flavor and moisture to a dish. Stuffing: The mixture that is cooked inside the cavity of poultry, such as a turkey, chicken, or other meats. The term "stuffing" implies that the mixture is "stuffed" into the poultry or meat before roasting or baking. Dressing: The mixture is cooked outside of the poultry or other meat. For example, dressing might be baked separately in a casserole dish alongside a roasted turkey. Dressing tends to have a slightly different texture and flavor profile, as it can develop a crispy top from baking directly in a dish.
