This is a great recipe for serving a crowd.
1 (2 1/2 to 3 pound) pork sirloin roast, pork shoulder or butt
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 medium onions, cut into thin wedges
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 (12 ounce) can root beer
1 (18 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce, any brand you like
8 to 10 hamburger buns, split (and toasted, if desired)
Cole slaw (optional)
