Old Fashioned Custard Pie

An old-fashioned custard pie is a classic dessert featuring a rich, creamy filling made with eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla, all baked in a flaky pastry crust.

Ingredients

  • 1 unbaked deep-dish pie shell
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 2/3 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

    1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees F.
    2. Beat eggs, slightly, then add sugar, salt, nutmeg and milk. Beat well, and pour into the unbaked pie shell.
    3. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
    4. Remove from oven and let cool.
    5. Sprinkle the top of the pie with freshly ground nutmeg, if desired.
