Hawaiian ribs in the slow cooker is a flavorful and tender dish that combines beef ribs with sweet and tangy Hawaiian-inspired ingredients.
2 pounds boneless beef short ribs
1 small red onion, diced
1 small can crushed pineapple (with juice)
1/3 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons honey
3 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon Chinese 5 Spice powder
Sesame seeds (optional)
Green onions, chopped (optional)
Optional Thickener
If you want a thicker sauce, remove the ribs once cooked. Transfer the cooking liquid to a saucepan. Mix cornstarch with a little water to make a slurry. Bring the sauce to a simmer and stir in the slurry until thickened. Return the ribs to the slow cooker or serve with the thickened sauce.
