This is a great southern dish. We’ve found it’s best served with cornbread.

2pounds fresh green beans
2pounds ham, diced
4 baking potatoes, diced, or 8 red potatoes, quartered
1 large onion, diced (optional))
3cups water
Salt and pepper
Montreal steak seasoning (optional)
Instructions
After removing the stems from the green beans, place them,, along with ham, potatoes and onion into the slow cooker.
Add water and season with salt and pepper or Montreal steak seasoning.
Cook on LOW for 6 hours.
Notes
This can also be made on the stovetop. Add ingredients to a Dutch oven as indicated above. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer slowly for about 1 1/2 hours. The potatoes and green beans should be very tender.
