American chop suey is an American pasta casserole made with ground beef, macaroni and a seasoned tomato sauce, found in the cuisine of New England and other regions of the United States. Outside New England it is sometimes called American goulash or Johnny Marzetti.
2 tablespoons butter
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons A.1. Sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 (4 ounce) can sliced mushrooms
1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
2 cups cooked elbow or shell macaroni
